A "Slightly" Harder Range (gamemode)

very funny gamemode you get after completing general main story

(very heavily inspired off of this funky DLC, so yeah, credits to the creator of that one)

basically it screws the world up. every slime is way different and the locations are also different and everything is different in that one way that makes your existence 69420 times harder.

also SR/SR2 mixmash (slime-wise)

this also has its own plot. it basically takes place in an alternative timeline

this also has a different protag. shes an albite gem hybrid and her name is kaycee and that name is not an inscryption reference.

L also will make jokes about the diamond slime (gold slime replacement) being a diamond slime

also crate dealer slime still exists here but his respawn cooldown is 15 days and he only accepts diamond plorts. feeding the guy anything else will just make him produce 100 newbucks which is not efficent in the slightest because his newbuck giveaway cap is like 500. crate cap is also reduced to 4 instead of the og 20. hey at least the crates have actual valuable shit in them now

Lore???????????? (general summary also)

All it took is approximately a "little" bit of damage to the Slime Sea and the local fabric of reality. A few years and boom - The Far, Far Range changed, forever. HOPEFULLY forever. Don't make it worse than it already is. Please.

Locations had fully changed, all resources had become something else and the slimes evolved. In addition to that, the Slimepedia has been fully taken down. The public announcement was that all information became obsolete and it just required a revamp in general, but... Couldn't they just edit the articles? And they don't seem to be hurrying to get it back up and running either. It's just weird. Oh, and the ranchers don't get any communication with the outside world either, because something keeps messing up the technology that the whole thing depens on. Official map ain't working either. The plort market's still up, though. Somehow. Overall, slime ranching has become far more difficult than it was originally.

Kaycee, knowing literally none of that, and hearing that slime ranching can make you rich very easily a bunch of times, sets out to the Range and, you guessed it, arrives at a place that's nowhere near her expectations. Now unironically stuck on this wreck of a planet with nothing but a stupidly old ranch and some hand-made equipment a certain person named "L" sent her, Kaycee... Doesn't give a conceptual fork. She came here with a specific goal in mind, and she's basically hell-bent on getting herself that goal. Didn't expect that, did you? The Far, Far Range thinks it can roadblock this idiot? Like hell, it won't.

Canon Slimes

(Barely) Surviving Slime (replaces Pink Slime) Something-something-never trust a survivor until you find out what they did to survive.

Moth Slime (replaces Phosphor Slime) Fly into something, even if it keeps burning you. just incinerate yourself on a lamp.

Prickly Slime (replaces Tabby Slime) The Far, Far range's equivalent of a stray cat, i guess.

Trap Slime (replaces Honey Slime) It's a trap. That's it. That is all you need to know.

Slime Sea Fragment (replaces Puddle Slime) Looks like the Slime Sea is angry, and... Honestly, i don't blame it for that. I'd be furious too.

Pre-Jellassic Saber Slime (replaces Saber Slime) One dangerous hell of a bouncing blast from the distant corners of the Range's... Okay, I'm really bad at this, aren't I?

Predator Slime (replaces Hunter Slime) The best hunters in the area, as long as Pre-Jellassic Saber Slimes aren't around.

Dimensional Anomaly (replaces Quantum Slime) Pretty sure this one isn't supposed to exist.

Trapper Slime (replaces Tangle Slime) This thing is just downright fearles. For stars' sake, it literally uses Trap Slimes as bait. If that's not a reason to be concerned, i don't know what is.

Hurricane Slime (replaces Dervish Slime) Please, for the love of everything that is holy, do not pair these things with Pre-Jellassic Saber Slimes.

Jackalope Slime (replaces Cotton Slime) "Jackalopes" were actually just sick and probably dying rabbits.

Vampiric Slime (replaces Batty Slime) Very far from herbivore, and very far from romantic.

lurker (replaces Angler Slime) NEVER do that again.

Cursed Statue (replaces Ringtail Slime) Don't turn your back on those things unless they are in a corral.

Odd Butter Slime (replaces Flutter Slime) What. The. HELL.

Breakfast Slime (replaces Yolky Slime) A reference to its beloved species' inevitable fate.

Mineral Slime (replaces Rock Slime) I'd name them Quartz Slimes, but it would only fit with their whole rolling thing and most people call them Mineral Slimes already anyway.

Volatile Slime (replaces Boom Slime) Likes mushrooms, clouds and Nuclear Slimes.

Nuclear Slime (replaces Rad Slime) Probably a stalker. Also tends to fall out of the ceiling unexpectedly.

Cluster Slime (replaces Crystal Slime) I... I don't want to talk about this.

Shattered Slime (replaces Mosaic Slime) Contrary to what the name says, it's actually not dead.

Infernal Slime (replaces Fire Slime) When simply being on fire is no longer sufficient.

Prismatic Abomination (replaces The Tarr) Looks like those awful, ravenous rainbows got a serious upgrade or two... RUN.

Cinnabar Slime (replaces Quicksilver Slime) One hell of a living issue. I don't know why she still keeps them around.

Fatal Error (replaces Glitch Slime) Damn it, Jerry! You forgot that control code AGAIN?! Gosh… You've doomed us all.

Diamond Slime (replaces Gold Slime) Hey, look, it's the leader of Homeworld. *chuckles*

Melody Slime (replaces Twinkle Slime) Probably the only thing on this planet that doesn't actually want you dead.

Shimmer Slime (replaces Lucky Slime) Black cats bringing bad luck? Myth. Shimmer Slimes bringing bad luck? You have no goddamn idea just how much i wish it was a myth too.

Crate Dealer Slime (ASHR Variant) And we still don't know where he stores those damn crates.

Slime Shifter (replaces Copycat Slime) Hey, isn't that copyright?

Mechanics

L's Extra Details

Unlike the normal version, where Extras just provides you with, well, extra information that the Slimepedia doesn't cover for one reason or another, in ASHR, L's Extra Details replaces the Slimepedia entirely. It covers literally everything there is to know about the specific object, place or horrendous needy abomination made of goo slime. The info is also very character specific because every lime slime rancher that uses those basically has their own copy of them and said copies are basically unique because L edits every entry to fit the specific person that owns the spacific copy. Oh, and some intros are full of gem jokes. Because wynaut.

Radar

A minimap. A slightly inefficent one, but it'll do. Also marks some things like doors from doors. Goes best with the Hand-Drawn Map, as using the radar will actually help you figure out just where the heck you are.

Just a hand-drawn map of the areas surrounding the ranch. Kaycee slowly makes the dumb thing as she progresses with the funzies. Oh, and it doesn't show you where you are right now, because it's a stupid piece of paper. Doesn't mark anything on its own either. That stuff is something you gotta do yourself.

It's also slightly better than the normal map, because it actually shows all caves (on a different piece of paper).

Meteor Shower

Happens randomly wherever. Basically asteroids start to spawn and smash literally everything around. Oh and they spawn meteor slimes that screw up the surrounding gravity. Overall? You either hide under something that won't crumble after five seconds, or you flop to the floor and die.

Oh, and it can happen on the ranch too. Will definitely wreck your buildings and gadgets.

also this specific natural disaster is totally not the one and only reason why i made the ranch house into a bunker in this gamemode

it basically works like in sr2 now, except without 7Zee stuff, because apparently they don't give a fuck anymore lmfao

Hideouts

Basically, just small bunkers. the original ones exist naturally and contain resources and lore. at some point you unlock a hideout blueprint which basically lets you craft and place your own hideouts literally wherever. All hideouts will be marked on the radar.

Basically they function like your ranch house, and kinda look like it too. Y'know, both are bunkers. except you can't sleep in them. Oh and you can store resources and slimes in there. Their primary function is to, well, serve as a hideout for the player. generic safe space away from ranch where you can sit out any natural disasters or mass slime attacks.

Free positioning of plots and slime science gadget spots

on the ranch, you can shove plots and gadget placement spots wherever the hell you want, as long as they fit into the space you're trying to shove them into. No wall corrals. No.

hideouts have a pre-set plot positioned inside and you cant put any new plots there but you can still position gadget placement spots there. not many of them are gonna fit in there though

you can't position plots anywhere away from the ranch, but still can position gadget placement spots literally wherever out there.

  • kaycee doesnt know shit about gem stuff. she knows that shes a hybrid of a human and a cringe alien species, has cringe powers of some kind and that the gemstone is basically her life force but that's like it

  • kaycee unironically knows very well how to use the funky albite abilities
    • she likes to sometimes mess with people's memories for funzies. doesnt do any big cringe with it though, the worst thing she's willing to commit to you is make you remember an image of a slipper everytime you try to figure out what the hell was your house layout for about 10 minutes
    • kaycee can and will use the albite pyramids to smack someone
    • oh and she can also float. it's limited though. basically it works like the Levitate ability from Control

• odd butter slimes actually messed up their subspecies and favourite food's slimepedia pages before slimepedia was taken down. everything on the pages was just replaced with "BUTTER" in an ominous font. fun
• lurker, Cursed Statue, Fatal Error and Dimensional Anomaly are the only slimes in this gamemode to not have "slime" in their name at all (tarrs/prismatic abominaceons dont count theyre not slimes).
• Slime Sea Fragment and Slime Shifter are the only slimes in this gamemode to have "slime" somewhere else in their name instead of the end.
• lurker is the only slime in this gamemode whose name is fully in lowercase.
